Zandvliet Vleeswaren was founded in 1929 as a ‘vleeshouwerij en spekslagerij' (butchery and pork specialist) in The Hague. In 1948 the founder, M. Zandvliet, brought his two sons, Loek and Jan, into the business. The company grew into a renowned manufacturer of meat products. The expansion of the butchery and wholesale business in The Hague also included more modern premises in Leiden. Continued growth resulted in a further move to a newly built complex on the industrial estate in Delft in 1968. This complex was extended in 1974 and 1991.
In June 1998 a devastating fire completely destroyed the company premises on Faradayweg. Staff, buyers, contacts and fellow-manufacturers kept up production, whil construction of a new building began immediately.
Today Zandvliet Vleeswaren is still an independent family business with the founder's grandson, Loek Zandvliet, as manager. Zandvliet Vleeswaren currently has two separate production companies: the newly built, ultramodern production company that produces bologna sausages and other types of sausages, and the nearby company that produces different varieties of bacon and other raw meat products.
